Meet some of the 20+ feathered competitors preparing for Chickenstock 2026.
Some are athletic. Some are chaotic. Some are suspiciously not chickens. Including Birdie… whose cover may already have been blown...
Chickenstock is a family-friendly fundraising event supporting the planned Sensory Playground at the Climate Action Campus, helping create a more inclusive and engaging community space for children and families in Christchurch.
You can now sponsor a chicken or grab spectator tickets through the Humanitix event listing. Sponsors will also go in the draw to win 1 of 5 copies of the NZ-designed game Coop.
Come witness stair climbs, mazes and a level of emotional investment nobody can prepare for.

Earlier this year we ran the pilot of NeuroQuest Adventures — a three-day blended tabletop and Minecraft programme designed to help neurodivergent young people build executive functioning skills through story, teamwork and play.
The pilot was delivered in partnership with Christchurch City Council, Stepping Stone Trust and Green Quill.
Over three days, participants explored the world of Feldspat through collaborative tabletop challenges, roleplay, strategy games and a connected Minecraft world where their decisions shaped what happened next.
The programme focused on:
- Planning
- Working memory
- Problem-solving
- Teamwork
- Flexible thinking
- Emotional regulation and communication
We’ve now finished putting together a short video from the pilot programme and wanted to share it with the wider community.
A huge thank you again to the children, whānau, facilitators and supporters who helped bring Feldspat to life.
We’re currently exploring opportunities to run NeuroQuest Adventures again in late 2026 and through 2027.

CHICKEN SPONSORSHIPS ARE NOW LIVE!
The official Chickenstock weigh-in is complete and the competitors are now locked in, loosely supervised, and preparing mentally for the biggest sporting event of their extremely confusing lives.
You can now sponsor your favourite chicken through the Chickenstock Humanitix event page, with all sponsorship money going toward fundraising for the Climate Action Campus Sensory Playground Project.
Sponsors will go in the draw to win 1 of 5 copies of Coop, a brilliant NZ-designed family card game about chickens escaping captivity.
Choose wisely. Some chickens appear highly motivated. Others seem surprised to still be here.
If you’d also like to attend Chickenstock in person on Saturday 23 May, entry tickets are available through the same Humanitix event listing.

🐔⚖️ Chickenstock weigh-in day is officially underway.
The athletes are arriving.
The feathers are flying.
And there are already some heated discussions around what technically qualifies as “a chicken.” 👀
We are weighing, checking, and meeting the competitors for the big event on 23 May at the Climate Action Campus.
Want to support the chaos, glory, and highly competitive poultry athletics?
🐓 Chicken sponsorships will be going live via the Humanitix event listing by end of day Sunday, 10 May.
All sponsorships help support fundraising for the future Sensory Playground at the Climate Action Campus.
Plus every chicken sponsor goes in the draw to win 1 of 5 copies of Coop - the brilliantly chaotic NZ-designed card game about chickens escaping captivity. Which feels increasingly relevant.

Chickenstock needs humans. Responsible ones… preferably.
We’re looking for volunteers to help bring the event to life for highly motivated chickens (and their equally competitive owners).
Help run events, keep things moving, and be part of a ridiculously fun day. We need support with set-up, welcoming guests, supporting competitors, keeping the event running smoothly, and packing down afterwards.
There are two volunteer dates:
• Weigh-in day: Saturday 9 May
• Main event: Saturday 23 May
Volunteer shifts will vary depending on the day and role. We’ll assign roles based on your availability, comfort level, and event needs.
All in support of building a sensory playground at the Climate Action Campus.
Sign up to volunteer and join the chaos (the good kind) via the Google Form in the link below:

Chickenstock is… escalating. We’ve now got 20 chickens registered and 100+ tickets sold, and there’s still time to get involved by entering a chicken or grabbing tickets and coming to cheer them on.
This event is raising funds for a sensory playground at the Climate Action Campus and soon you’ll also be able to sponsor a chicken, with all chicken sponsorship money going directly towards the project.
Every chicken sponsor goes in the draw to win 1 of 5 copies of Coop, a brilliant family-friendly, NZ-designed card game about helping chickens escape the coop… which feels very relevant right now.
Chicken sponsorship links will be open this weekend via the Humanitix event listing, after all our poultry competitors are confirmed in the May 9 "weigh-in".
