Hey meeps, sorry for the radio silence but it's been a little hectic with having to close our location and plan for reopening elsewhere - more to come on this next week, watch this space 😀
On a different note we were introduced to a really cool new app that we wanted to share that is being developed by Kiwis to help the board gaming community - Aftergame.
Aftergame is a new social board game tracking app. The current beta allows you to easily record the games you play, create a shared game history linked with your friends and to manage your collection for easy browsing. A new feature to find and organise people to play a game will be released in October, with full scoresheet breakdowns, communities, and rulebooks coming soon after. The team are working hard to get as many games loaded in the system as possible, currently the app has a limited number of games but it's growing daily.
The app is available on both Apple and Android app stores or you can download it from this link - www.aftergame.co/download
The developers are keen on feedbackso if you have time please download, register, have a play with the app and let the developers know your thoughts.
We have so many talented folk here in New Zealand, please join us in getting behind this app and supporting locals working to improve the gaming community for everyone!

Hey meeps, this is one of those good news / bad news posts I'm afraid 🥺
Bad news first, Meepleopolis will be closing from tomorrow (Monday 11 September). There's a whole bunch of reasons behind this and the decision has been a painful one but basically it boils down to needing to ensure the long-term viability of the business and our current location is not able to support that.
Now for some good news, we're actively working on some exciting updates which we hope to be able to announce in the next few weeks. We'd love to share details now but we don't want to impact ongoing discussions so you'll all just need to be patient and bare with us and we'll let you know the next steps for Meepleopolis as soon as we can.
That being said, today is the last hurrah for Meepleopolis here in the City Centre so if you have time to swing on by you can not only help us celebrate closing out an amazing 1st year but you'll also be able to help support the Cancer Society by joining one of the many activities happening today (check here for details - meeples-and-traders.raisely.com) or simply by playing, eating or drinking as we are donating 10% of all sales to their worthy cause! 🥰😍
Thanks for your understanding while we work through future plans. In the meantime if you have any questions, concerns or enquiries feel free to drop us a line through Facebook or email us at info@meepleopolis.com

Meepleopolis is my must visit store every time I'm in Christchurch, hope to see you again soon in a new location. 🍀
So sad to hear this, hopefully the new set up ticks all the boxes for you guys!
You guys rock and we’ll have our fingers crossed to see you up and running again soon! 🤞🤞
Bugger guys! Such an awesome place and positive step for the city, wish I could get in there more often, but love it when I do.
Thanks for helping us grow blood on the clocktower and bringing so many people together. Can't wait to see what comes next.
Every city in the world needs a Meepleopolis. I’ve never experienced a place so focused on crafting a great board game experience.
Oh no! I’m moving back into the city to be closer to you! Hopefully the new spot won’t be too far away 👍
Sorry to see you’ve had to close up. Will keep eyes and ears open so we can support you in the future. Hope you’re keen to continue with the kids programme when you find a new home.
Kristina Pangan we never even got to visit :(

Hey meeps, we had an awesome night last night with our Pop Quiz and were able to get the ball rolling very nicely on our drive to raise money for Cancer Society Canterbury-West Coast support those less fortunate who are battling serious illness, and we’re excited to see how the Christchurch community continues this support over the weekend at our Meeples & Traders Cancer Society Game Fair.
There’s still spaces available for some of the kids and adult classes, competitions and organised play events, you can learn more about them and book your tickets here - meeples-and-traders.raisely.com/. You can also buy tickets and jump in to one of the activities in store on the day but this is subject to availability so we definitely recommend pre-booking tickets via the website if you’re thinking of coming down.
General admission is free but any donation you can provide to the Cancer Society during your visit to Meepleopolis is truly appreciated and keep in mind that we are donating 10% of all sales (75% of ticket sales) to the Cancer Society so simply by eating, drinking, playing or buying a game over the weekend you’ll be helping and supporting!
We've had an AMAZING amount of support from our sponsors VR DistributionCheeky Parrot GamesBoard Games By The BayHancocks Wine, Spirit & Beer Merchants and Let's Play Games which has allowed us to provide great prizes for our competitions but also run a Cancer Society raffle with 10 fantastic prize packages (pictured) - raffle tickets are $5 each and purchasable in store all weekend with 100% of proceeds supporting the Cancer Society.
Last but by no means least (especially for the youngsters out there) the generous and talented team at Crowntastic Events will be in store from 12:30-2:30pm Saturday and 3:30-5pm Sunday with face painting and possible a few surprise characters to meet. Face Painting is a gold coin donation with all money going to the Cancer Society 😍
Oh and don’t forget we’re open longer then usual this weekend, from 10am both Saturday and Sunday, giving you more time to have fun and support a great cause!
Look forward to seeing you in store for fun, food and drinks!
